Northwestern University Settlement is an organization of people joined
for the common purpose of extending a helping hand to the individuals
and families of West Town. The Settlement's formal structure consists
of a Board of Directors, an Honorary Board, and Auxiliary Boards.
There are currently six Auxiliary Boards. The Evanston Women's Board
was formed in 1909,
followed by the
Winnetka Board in 1923, the North Shore Board in 1936, the Northwestern
Settlement Associates in 1950, the Park Ridge Board in 1989 and the Chicago
Board in 2004. With memberships totaling over 250, these boards
organize major fundraising events, conduct annual appeals, make in-kind
contributions, and volunteer their time.

Auxiliary Board
fundraising events include the North Shore Board's Glitter Ball, a black-tie dinner, dance and silent auction
at the Four Seasons Chicago every October; the Winnetka Board's
annual fashion show Style Under The Stars, featuring current fashions from north shore
boutiques; the Park Ridge Board's annual Cherub Brunch and Silent
Auction in December; and the Evanston Board's Dollar Letter campaign.
In addition, Boards and board members adopt families at Christmas,
pack Christmas and Easter baskets, take After School and Golden Agers program participants on field trips, run
a Mother's Day gift shop for Head Start and After School children,
and much more.
There have been other auxiliaries and support groups over the years, including
the Business and Professional Women's Board, the Highland Park Board,
the Oak Park-River Forest board, the Junior Services League and the Lake
Bluff and Barrington Board. The Settlement welcomes the support
of individuals and groups from around Chicagoland and is always open to
exploring the creation of new boards and support groups.
To see the valuable contributions made by our Auxiliary Boards, see the 2007 Annual Meeting presentation. For more information on forming a new board or joining an existing board,

Office.
